This week, we’re shifting gears here at Competition Central, with four copies of children’s picture book, The Bravest Dugong to give away – written by Alec Trost and beautifully illustrated by Graham Compton.
Alec completed our Writing Picture Books course back when it first began in 2011, and he (ironically) illustrates the fact that you don’t need to be an illustrator at all to create a picture book – simply write the words and an artist will put together the images to accompany them. (In this case, Graham Compton.)
This story is aimed at preschool readers, introducing us to Brave Charlie D, a dugong with big ambitions. As far as sea animal representation goes, dugongs don’t tend to get much of a look in usually, so this is a unique story for both youngsters and dugong admirers alike!
To be in to win a copy, simply tell us if you had a pet dugong, what name you’d give it. The more creative the better! We have four books to give away to our favourite entries.
This competition has now closed – thanks for your entries! Winners will be announced in our weekly newsletter.
