We recently ran a competition for our community and challenged you to bring your creativity to the Surface. This was your chance to win Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4 (RRP AU $2799).
The winner was Holly Bidwell from Canberra. Congratulations Holly!
Holly has turned it into her constant companion. “The Surface is so portable. It’s light and easy to work with. I can take it to cafes and write without lugging around a heavy laptop bag or sit it on my lap on the lounge.
“I love the ability to convert the Surface into a tablet. The keyboard detaches easily – and re-attaches magnetically with almost no effort at all. It has the convenience of a tablet without needing a second device. Using the pen with the tablet function is useful and I’ve got to admit, it’s a lot of fun scribbling away on the screen.”
We’re also thrilled to hear that the innovative tablet is helping Holly in her creative pursuits. “I’ve been using my Surface to edit the children’s novel I wrote during Nanowrimo. It’s been a treat having a beautiful new computer to edit it on and read aloud from. I’ve also started the planning work on another book.”
Holly’s day job is performing storytelling programs to children. “In the coming weeks I’ll be planning my programs for 2017 – I’m working on a new theme of summer stories so will be using my Surface to search for folktales that fit my theme. Audiobooks and podcasts are a hobby of mine and I’ve been downloading plenty of them recently, including So You Want to be a Writer of course!
“I love my Surface! I’m so happy with it and am I’m so grateful to the Australian Writers Centre for running the competition.”
Many thanks to Microsoft Surface for supporting the writing and creative community and making this competition possible.
