Picture book writing competition now open

Attention picture book writers. If you have an original picture book manuscript burning a hole in your proverbial drafts’ drawer, now’s the time to pick it up and dust it off.

The 2020 Writers Unleashed Picture Book Writing Competition is now open and is offering some sweet prizes.

First prize will receive $500 and a publishing mentorship with Clare Hallifax, Publishing Manager at Scholastic.

Second and third place also receive a monetary prize while all the shortlisted entries will receive a certificate.

There’s a 500-word limit and the theme is open. They are not accepting manuscripts that include illustrations.

According to the media release, in 2019, the ‘3rd Place Winner, Rory H. Mather won a publishing contract with Scholastic Australia’. So this might be your chance to get your picture book manuscript published.

The Unleashed Picture Book Writing Competition Opens on 2 March and closes on 27 April 2020.
