The Hunter Writers Centre also are accepting submissions for the 2017 Newcastle Poetry Prize!
This competition has a prize pool over $22,000, with first prize taking away a sweet $15,000.
Paul Hetherington says on the Hunter Writers Centre website:
“The Newcastle Poetry Prize represents a wonderful opportunity for Australian poets interested in writing longer poetic works and poetic sequences to have these works recognised and anthologised in the company of their most accomplished peers. The award honours and nurtures some of the bravest poems being written anywhere in the world and, in doing so, it accords poetry the place it deserves in our contemporary culture.”
Entries are capped at a maximum of 200 lines and the competition closes Friday 30 June 2017.
