The Society for Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) is holding its biennial conference on 4-6 September 2016. If you’re serious about networking with local and international industry professionals, this is your chance to take your work to the next level.
Key attractions include a keynote by Tara Weikum, Vice President of HarperCollins Children’s Books USA, publisher panels, pitch sessions, craft sessions and so much more.
You’ll get the opportunity to get cosy with and learn directly from publishers, editors, and agents. It’s an opportunity too good to miss.
From the SCBWI website:
“The conference program includes publisher panels, pitch sessions, craft sessions, masterclasses, and book launches. In addition to face-to-face manuscript and portfolio critiques, this year we will be offering delegates the opportunity to book international distance critiques with commissioning editors and agents from high profile publishing houses in the US. It’s not all about work, of course! There’s lots of chatting, celebrating, sharing and networking throughout the conference, and a chance to let your hair down at the fabulous SCBWI dinner dance party on the Monday night.”
That’s right, you’ll get to find out what children’s book editors and agents actually want, as well as rub shoulders with local professionals.
For Australians in the eastern states, and our cousins in New Zealand, the SCBWI is in the Sydney CBD this year.
