So who's speaking at this event?

Natasha Lester is the bestselling writer behind the novel What is Left Over, After, which won the TAG Hungerford Award in 2010. Her second book, If I Should Lose You was published in 2012. Natasha’s third novel, A Kiss from Mr Fitzgerald, was published by Hachette Australia in April 2016.  It was picked up, along with a fourth book to be published in 2017, after a bidding war between several major Australian publishers. We'll be talking to Natasha about the launch of A Kiss from Mr Fitzgerald and the writing process for the fourth book.

Natasha is also the creator of two uber-popular AWC courses, 2 Hours to Scrivener Power and Pitch Your Novel: How to Attract Agents and Publishers.

Natasha had always wanted to be a writer but somehow found herself studying commerce when she left school. This led to her working in the marketing department of Harlequin UK, where she had the difficult job of choosing pictures of handsome heroes to put on the covers of books, and as a marketing executive for L’Oreal, where she had to buy a new bathroom cupboard just to store all her lipsticks. When she came back to her home in Perth, she decided to go back to university and study a Master of Creative Arts, during which time she wrote her first novel.

The Age newspaper has described her as “a remarkable Australian talent” and Natasha has been the recipient of grants by the Australia Council, and a writing residency from Varuna, The Writers’ House. Her work has also appeared in The Review of Australian Fiction and Overland, and the anthologies Australian Love Stories, The Kid on the Karaoke Stage and Purple Prose. In her spare time, she loves to teach writing, she’s a sought-after public speaker, and she can often be found playing dress-ups with her three children or turning herself upside down at yoga.

About our meet-ups

We love hosting get-togethers so our community can meet, share stories and have fun! We invite a guest speaker to share their journey as a writer, or experience in the publishing industry.

There is a $10 cover charge, and proceeds are directly donated to charity. For this event, the funds are going to Doggie Rescue: a no-kill shelter that rescues and re-homes abandoned dogs from Sydney’s pounds. As the proceeds go directly to charity, the ticket price is non-refundable even if you are unable to attend.

Sounds great! Remind me where and when?
