This week’s giveaway book has a person's name as the title and another name as the writer. But we triple checked and the book is definitely called Tom Houghton, and it’s by Australian author Todd Alexander.
Let’s do a quick synopsis. It starts in the western suburbs of Sydney, centring on our titular Tom as he escapes schoolyard drams by immersing himself in the golden age of Hollywood cinema. Upon learning he shares a name with Katharine Hepburn’s brother (Tom Houghton Hepburn), he falls further into a fantasy world that doesn’t end well. And now almost thirty years later, on the other side of the world, events trigger his past to catch up with him once more.
Sounds intriguing, right? So, to win our giveaway copy this week, we’d like to carry on the golden age of cinema theme. Tell us your favourite pre-1980 film and (in 25 words or fewer) why you love it so much. That’s right, win a book by talking film!
